Stand up comedian Suren Jayemanne, touted as a hot new act to watch by two of Australia’s major comedy festivals (but none of Australia’s major Intelligence authorities… as far as he’s aware), will be performing at this year’s Indian Executive Club awards night.

In 2014, Suren was handpicked by festival directors to appear in MICF’s prestigious Comedy Zone showcase of the best five new acts from Australia.  In 2015, Suren’s debut solo show, Eat Praline, Die, was selected for Sydney’s FRESH program for emerging artists.  Suren’s latest show, Wu-Tang Clan Name Generator was a hit with audiences and critics alike, selling out many shows across its run at MICF with encore performances due to popular demand in Sydney.

While pursuing his stand up comedy career, Suren has also forged a career as a Chartered Accountant, with over 7 years experience including  5 with KPMG.  In this time, Suren has facilitated tax practice conferences for the firm, putting to good use both his technical know how and presenting skills.

Suren’s comedy has been described as clever, engaging, personable and on-point, as he combines a penchant for wordplay with observations about multiculturalism in Australia.

In 2016, Suren has been in popular demand, appearing as the feature entertainer for various corporate events, including the annual Refugee Ball fundraiser, attended by over 500 people.

Catch him live at the 6th IEC Awards on 19th November at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins.
